We hope you are all enjoying the festive season and are able to have a break and spend some time relaxing and with your families.
We wish you all the best for your holiday break and look forward to seeing you all refreshed from the break next year.
For those of you looking for holiday reading inspiration please remember to check to your local library. Reading does not have to be targeted exactly at your child's reading level over the holidays and you will be able to find a range of books to suit all interests and abilities.
If you were looking for something digital over the holidays the Ministry of Education has released some of the Ready to Read books as apps that your child can read independently or listen to on the go.
Enjoy your holidays where you can and have fun having a break from the school schedule for a few weeks.

Important Notes for Last Week of 2016
This week is the last school week of 2016.
Here are a few things you need to know for this very busy week to be successful:
- Junior Assemblies
- All children need to wear tidy, correct summer uniform including sensible footwear. No long tops or pants underneath the uniform, It is warm enough in our classrooms for the summer uniform and visible clothes should not be worn underneath. If your child feels more comfortable playing with pants under their dress then they can wear bike shorts that are shorter than their dress.
- Our parents and families are invited to attend the junior assembly at 2pm. All children need to be at school on time because there will be a performance just after roll in the morning for some of the other teams parents. This is a popular event so please arrive before 2pm to get a seat in the hall.
- Bring a can
- Bring a can of food on Wednesday or Thursday for the Salvation Army.
- Pool Fun
- On Friday we are planning to use our swimming time to have a fun swimming time in the pool. (If the weather is fine) Please make sure your child brings their togs and towel so they can have fun with our team.
- Library books
- If you have any overdue library books these need to be returned to the classroom teachers ASAP or if the books cannot be found then the dues need to be paid to the office.
- Reading books
- If you have any Isleworth reading books at home please return them straight to the teacher. Please check in your child's bag and around the house.

End of Year Celebration with Isleworth Kindergarten
Today the children and educators from Isleworth Kindergarten came to visit us in Team Awa. Usually on a Wednesday one group of our children go over to visit the Kindy to play with the children and to read them a story. This week to celebrate the end of the year, they came over to visit us. We had a play on the playground and with the big discovery things then the Kindy children sung some songs for us and we sung our Christmas songs for them.
We were very luck because the children had baked shortbread cookies for us as a thank-you for our wonderful reading this year.

Maori around the school
On Mondays Whaea Debbie comes into our class to help us to develop our Māori language with songs, games, stories and other language and cultural experiences.
This week we learnt the names for some of the buildings in our school as we had a walk around the school.
You might like to use some of these names too.
